Mother's Day
The following two passages of scripture would be really good to weave into a message about the role of mothers, and the role that we should give them, in our lives:
I Samuel 2: 18-19 But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
This would be a really great verse to talk about the affection of a mother for her children. It reminds me of the way that expectant parents, or even teenage girls, act with baby clothes. Think about how they hold them up in the store, and talk about how cute they are, and hold them up to imagine what the baby will look like in them.
Imagine how Samuel's mother must have felt as she thought about seeing him at the yearly sacrifice. She probably would have enjoyed making him a new little robe, holding it up, and imagining how he would look when he was wearing it, and what their brief time together would be like.
